Now Enrolling 6th Grade Students for the 2026-27 School Year.
Not just an education, an experience!
The Nevada School of Inquiry is a nonprofit private middle school serving students grades 6-8.
Our Mission
The mission of The Nevada School of Inquiry (NVSI) is to cultivate the next generation of well-rounded, confident problem solvers by providing the highest quality of learning experiences that nurture the whole child.
Nevada School of Inquiry has, in a sense, brought back the one-room schoolhouse for middle schoolers — a small, close-knit environment where personalized, authentic learning thrives. Our carefully designed inquiry-based units connect across all curricular areas, grounding students in real-world problem solving and service. Learning doesn't stop at the classroom door — regular off-campus learning experiences, including an unforgettable end-of-year wilderness excursion, are woven throughout the curriculum.
-
Small by design, NVSI caps enrollment at 28 students so we know every student by name, by strength, and by struggle — building personalized plans that challenge and support each child at their level. Our inquiry-based curriculum connects across all subject areas, gets students out of the classroom regularly, and builds a community that feels less like a school and more like a family.
-
NVSI is a great fit for any motivated middle schooler ready to take ownership of their learning. Whether your child is craving more academic challenge, needs an environment that truly gets them, or is simply ready for a fresh start — we welcome students who are curious, open, and ready to grow. And if your child is nervous about transitioning to a new school, they won't be for long. At NVSI, personalized support isn't a program — it's just how we operate.
-
Simple — your first step is to book a tour. A tour is the best way to get a feel for NVSI, meet us, and ask any questions you may have. From there, we'll walk you through everything. Space is limited, so don't wait!
-
Yes, NVSI is a licensed private school in the State of Nevada. Nevada requires private schools to meet specific standards for curriculum, safety, and operations. You can learn more about Nevada's private school requirements and view the state listing here.

It works better than you might expect — and it's actually one of our favorite things about NVSI. Older students naturally mentor younger ones, and younger students are inspired by their peers. We operate as a one-room schoolhouse for the majority of the day, with Science, Social Studies, PE, and Electives completed together across all grade levels. Math and ELA are taught in small groups differentiated by working level, ensuring every student is appropriately challenged.
Your Questions, Answered.
-
For the 2026-27 school year, classes run Monday through Thursday, 8:00am - 2:00pm. Each Friday, students have the option to attend in person or work from home. NVSI also offers after-school clubs Monday through Thursday from 2:00pm - 3:00pm.
-
At NVSI, learning is driven by curiosity. Rather than being given information directly, students seek answers through experience — developing the skills to use claims, evidence, and reasoning to solve real-world problems. We teach to the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS), but no single program drives our instruction. We curate and adapt what works best for our students. Programs we draw from include Full Option Science System (FOSS), Novel Studies, Illustrative Mathematics, Teachers Curriculum Institute, CommonLit, and EL Education.
-
For advanced math students, we partner with Keystone Online High School to provide the opportunity to earn transferable high school math credits — entering high school already ahead of the curve, at no additional cost to families.
-
Tuition for the 2026-27 school year is $13,000, payable with a $1,000 deposit and monthly installments of $1,200 (August through May).
Tuition covers all school supplies, testing fees, single-day class trips, and NVSI branded clothing and merchandise (additional items available for purchase).
The only additional cost is our mandatory end-of-year learning experience. For reference, the 2025-26 trip came in at $1,300, covering airfare, transportation, food, lodging, program fees, and wilderness guides.
In 2026-27, students will head to Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Fundraising opportunities are available throughout the year to help offset this cost.NVSI is also registered with the Nevada Choice Scholarship Program (Opportunity Scholarship).
-
All school supplies are covered in tuition — all students need is a personal device (laptop or tablet with keyboard) and a packed lunch, as we don't have food service on campus.
As for dress code, there is no uniform — just come dressed appropriately. Students should have closed-toe athletic shoes for PE days. For off-campus learning experiences, students will wear an NVSI top along with clothing appropriate for the adventure.
